I'd say he's likely very experienced.Įdited by bobzeq25, 12 January 2018 - 12:18 PM. That image used 2 hours total time and PixInsight. The problem with examples is that they're not you. There's no such thing as "too good" a mount. ![]() If you're not happy with the results, I'd make a big step up, assuming you have the budget. ![]() The stated capacities are not carved in stone, there are no standards, they're whatever the manufacturer wants to claim. The weight is an issue, the stated capacities of low end mounts are often optimistic. There's substantial variation in the specific examples of the low end mounts, and the ability of imagers to use them. I've seen some example of 1 minute exposures, with this mount, and longer focal lengths ( exemple here, even though it's imperfect). ![]() And there is the counter-weight option if needed.īut given the focal length (360mm), could it be too much for 1-2 minutes exposures on this mount? I assume the weight is not an issue for the mount, the maximum payload being 3 kg, and my camera + the Zenithstar weigh less than 2 kg in total. ![]() However, I wonder if it wouldn't be too much for my little iOptron SkyTracker Pro mount. I'm eyeing the William Optics Zenithstar 61 APO, which seems to fit my requirements (affordable, lightweight, somewhat small, apparently great optics) for a beginner and transport-friendly telescope.
